Devoured by Flame

I still struggle to come to terms with how I am going to explain this to people and so, because I haven’t really had the thought to process it in words just yet I am going to attempt to process it here.

There are things about possessory work that people don’t know about and people are scared to find out. There are levels in which people don’t care to explore or find to be useful or beneficial. 

I don’t really care to explain myself and the ways in which I have arrived at the explanation I am going to give here. The fact of the matter is: there isn’t a way in which people are going to grow in polytheism unless we have a way to connect with the gods that is more than just using your discernment. Furthermore, there isn’t a way in which using only your discernment would benefit you and the people around you who aren’t listening or cannot listen themselves.

I consider possessory work as a tool to assist people in gaining a better understanding of what they hear rather than being used as a crutch and the only way in which people can connect with the Gods. I consider possession to be a way in which the Gods can view humans in a light that is more than just what we think they can see. The Gods are not infallible and they don’t always show up in a way that is understandable to humans. This work is beneficial to Them just like it’s beneficial to us.

That being said, not everyone should be doing this. It isn’t for people who think it would be a cool, powerful thing to do to show the gods you’re useful. I don’t think it should be for your own pleasure-making even though it is, also, pleasurable. 

It should not happen unless people have been trained by the Gods in question to become a more useful tool for them. I am not saying, of course, that it will always be a perfect situation but if you are expecting to serve others and be useful to the Gods, you are going to need to understand how to remove yourself in a way that is beneficial not only to Them but to yourself, as well. The best way for the Gods to have a hands-on training is for Them to come down Themselves and offer Their own insight without the barrier of human bias. Which means other people have to be able to carry Them first for others to see in time. 

Most humans do not understand the importance of removing the ego from a situation. We cannot withhold our own biases and shortcomings enough for it to be useful for the Divine to have a way of working in this world. Some random person on the internet claiming to be doing this work is likely not going to be great and they are also likely having their biases get in the way of what the Gods are wanting to show you.

That isn’t to say that all people are wrong but rather, that you should be critical of everything you see. I can claim to be different but my claims don’t mean anything unless there is true evidence that shows you that I mean what I say and know what I’m doing. That can only come from my showing you as well as from you seeing it for yourself. Until then, I have nothing to prove that I am not already showing you for myself and that alone should show you that I am doing this the way I was shown to and not for any other reason.

If someone is trying to prove themselves capable and being defensive about it, they are already incapable. If they are trying to prove themselves at all, they are not working for the Gods. If they are trying to communicate something to you and insisting that they know what the Gods are even saying through them, the message is already wrong. When I say there is a complete removal from knowing what is going on, I mean it. There should be no recollection at all about what is said through the medium when the medium is qualified to serve others. 

The medium should be in a place with themselves that they are comfortable being wrong and being shown that they are wrong should that ever be the case: and a qualified, trained medium would rarely have that difficulty to begin with because it is up to the receiver of the message to discern the meaning should the medium themselves already gotten the point across and do not know what it should mean, themselves.

The point is complete passivity as well as complete recognition that it is not about you. 

Most things I do on behalf of Loki aren’t because I am told the reasoning behind them unless it is for only for me. If it is for other people, even my friends, I don’t know the reasoning until others tell me there is one. Until that point, what is said is gibberish and not understandable. At that point, I know that what is being said isn’t for me to know. 

I have seen multiple people online claim to speak for Loki and while I know I cannot claim to be the only one doing this work, I also see those messages and are made aware that the filter of human experience is not peeled away. 

I see evidence of people trying to harm themselves over things that they are trying to control and controlling the narrative is essentially a human element and it stops being possible that they are doing something in an ethical manner. It is unlikely that the Gods would want a tool that is breakable and unable to be sustained for a multitude of years. It is unlikely that the Gods want someone who is trying to make a name for themselves and doing it for clout.

If the point that is getting across is for other humans, the humans who need to know are going to know and the others will not understand nor appreciate the message or experience. The Gods are particular about what gets across and what doesn’t and who gets to hear what, even when the message is for the general public versus one or two people. They have Their own PR campaign and They are the ones who know who needs to hear it the most. Not us.

I think that is mostly what I felt compelled to write about. I know this is a lot for some people to grapple with because we are told that, from an early age, the Gods should be untouchable and unknowable and there are consequences to working with the Gods in this way that will be unmanaged and people get hurt. While it is important to be aware that there are consequences no matter what you do, they are going to happen anyway. 

There is not a difference between what went wrong because Loki got involved in my life versus what went wrong when I was told to do something and was not okay with it. The consequences would have ended the same way. In a way, it would have been similar regardless of what happened before and there would not have been a God at hand who would have told me otherwise.

There is no distinction between who is who and what is what when it comes to possessory work. It is only the fact that people who do not know what they are doing are going to get hurt and when it comes down to the bottom line, that person could be you if you do not know what you are dealing with.

It is important to have people around you who work hard and do this on the occasions where trust is available from all variables rather than just one side. Such as it is when you are having intimacy in bed, if you don’t trust who you’re working with, then you will need a better partner or you will have to wait until you know more about them in order to completely release yourself in order to have a more enjoyable time. Most people never wait for that moment and assume it’s supposed to be painful when it happens or are supposed to feel like they’ve been hit by a bus every time. 

There is not much context out there where all levels of possession are consensual and important in and of itself. There isn’t much framework at all in which people are supposed to be teaching this content and don’t because they get framed as bad or are told that they are being sacrilegious. I think both sides of this argument are essentially not important – once all of that goes away, we are left with nothing but who decides who gets to control people and that isn’t for us to challenge or determine. 

And so, I will end on a more positive note. I think there are things that are changing and beginning to happen especially in the world both physical and metaphysical. I think people are beginning to realize that the Gods are more than just what they read about on a page and are, in fact, different than what everyone makes Them out to be. I think people are coming out of hiding and indoctrination and realizing that there is more to it than just being told that you build a shrine and give offerings every now and then. And bonus to those who may have already began to look into this work and see that it could actually be healing and mindful and not what everyone else had panicked and stressed over.

The fact is, this work is beautiful. All those who realize what it is will see it in time, and those who don’t may only get to if they allow themselves the ability to see themselves differently and change the way they look at the Gods.

I am only just getting started, I think. There is a lot more that I wish to talk about with people but I do not want to waste time on getting to the part where you see that it is more intimidating than you want and argue that this isn’t something that is for humans to know. We are not different from the Gods – we work together and are supposed to work together as partners. This is just one of the many ways in which you can see how.
