The Meticulous and Organized Nature of Loki

Most people tend to equate Loki with “chaos” and being a prankster. They say that He gets enjoyment out of destruction and random stuff. I, however, have had a different experience of Himself.

Something I have learned through my years of being intimate with Loki is that He is impeccably meticulous. He is organized and timely. He has plans within plans. He does not tend to work based on randomness whatsoever. It may seem like it is. He puts meaning into everything He does. He means what He does in a way that there is also a dual meaning or purpose that is never clear the first time around.

Whether or not we see what His plans and focuses are, that’s completely different. It may seem like chaos to us. In reality, it is smaller pieces to a much larger scaled puzzle. These pieces fall into place exactly when they are supposed to. The pieces that we see are, themselves, a working puzzle. It takes a lot more than just it being ‘chaos’ to be a work of Loki’s.

Loki is organized. He does not like things to be out of place. And at first, when He showed me this more rounded part of Himself, I did not completely understand. After all, why would He be organized when He is supposed to be chaotic?

I don’t pretend to know every facet of Loki, to be fair. I know I will never fully understand why He is the way He is. However, this aspect of Him is what most people don’t understand.

To be a more organized and pragmatic trickster would make Him to be extremely potent and useful. It isn’t that Loki wouldn’t throw things at a wall and see if it sticks. At that point, it becomes more like an experiment or trial and error. It is not about erratically or haphazardly pulling things together and hoping it works out.

His jokes – if any – are pointed and multi-layered and often have a cause. His words are heavily calculated and well thought-out. His timing for His words are also very meticulous and thoughtful even if it is seemingly by accident. He isn’t fun all of the time and in fact, He is mostly impeccably sincere and to-the-point.

To say that Loki is chaos would mean you don’t fully understand Him. The complexity of a Divine being of His aptitude exceeds simple definitions.

He is jotun. This means He has been here before humans ever walked the Earth. He has seen the times rise and fall with or without us. He is more ancient than we will ever fathom. He is old – very old. In fact, Odin is significantly younger than Him.

His jokes aren’t playful with the kind of youthful delight most people see in Him. He is a tired being who has seen it all and done it all a thousand times again. His delight and fun comes from the intricacies of human brilliance, puzzles, and word games. He solves puzzles only to pick them apart and do it all over again.

He plays with puzzle pieces until they all fit together easily. Everyone else thinks He’s still working on one side of the puzzle when He’s already moved on. He’s leaps and bounds ahead. He has already solved the puzzle, and he is working on the next one. Meanwhile, you watch Him do the first.

He is the ultimate chess player. He has all of the aces up His sleeve and when He is losing, He pulls a new one.

Loki is sly, brilliant and clever. He is not a comedian. He enjoys comedic acts that are inherently clever. He also enjoys the cleverness of allegory. He hates when we are too serious. He has analyzed our problem to figure out that it’s going to be okay. He will help us do the same.

To have faith and trust in Loki means knowing that He knows what He’s doing. This is true even though it doesn’t seem like it at the time. He isn’t going to show His hand to anyone. You will never see all of the cards – not until after the round has finished. He may not even be holding cards on the first place and has left it up to you this time.

He is mostly hands off because He is ancient. So few people tend to really focus on the parts of Him that reflect that age. It is disrespectful to assume that He doesn’t know what He’s doing. Assuming that He’s trying to be funny or that He doesn’t have a plan is equally disrespectful. The issue is that most people get off before it even begins.

Loki isn’t for the faint at heart. He can be impeccable in His gentleness but brutal in the face of action needing to be done. He has taken drastic measures and is not afraid to get His hands dirty. There’s a reason He is so useful for the Gods – but He is also useful to humans. We just don’t acknowledge that side of Him. He has spoken things to me that are cruel and often cross multiple boundaries – but not for pleasure or sport though most people would think that is the case. He does it to drive us to the point of change. Otherwise, we will be negligent of the issue and ignore the signs leading to the ultimate downfall.

He isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. He doesn’t do things according to our rules and our societal expectations. His values depend on what He needs to accomplish for most people. For others, it depends on what He needs from them. He’s like a two sided coin. You never know which end you’re getting until you wake up one morning and realize He isn’t who you thought He was. You have to re-evaluate all over again.

It is an honor to work with Loki. It is an honor to be considered one of His own. This is especially true because He is discriminating of whom He chooses. He is extremely private and hidden. He knows the dangers of not keeping hidden from prying eyes. To assume you know everything there is to know about Him is a mistake. It means that you’re likely not getting the full Deity.

He has a public visage that is seen by most. He keeps an image and a face for those who aren’t listening to Him unless He wears the one they want. But for those who are close to Him, He will let them in slowly to test the waters. Most won’t pass but those who do remain dedicated to Him.

This is just a fragment of who Loki is like behind all the things that are shared about Him just being a prankster. He isn’t a laugh out loud kind of cheapened amusement for laughs. He is deeply, deeply involved in the goings ons of the universe. He has seen it all and He will see it again.

To those who are new to working with Him, do not forget that He is more than who people say He is online. To those who have been with Him for longer, it is even more important that you don’t forget who you are dealing with. It is easier to bottle it all up and think you know what you are doing when bringing Loki into your life. Admitting perhaps you do not truly know Him and you never will is harder.

I see most people burn out of working with Him after 4 or 5 years. This is ultimately because they likely only ever see one or two facets of Him. They can’t reconcile the parts He wants to show because they don’t work within their narrative. They dismiss the parts that are uncomfortable. Many write them off as “trickster spirits” because He can be particularly dark.

Loki is inherently uncomfortable. He is not easy nor should He ever be. He is complex and incredible. He is the encapsulation of Divinity itself as He has brought the Divine to humans. To belittle Him is an insult.
