If we consider the fact that all things on this plane and beyond ours have a sort of energetic signature, some being lower or higher than others depending on its placement in the world, we can then know that we ourselves have a sort of energetic signature as well. Objects and places and other things also have an energetic signature that can be more purposeful to not be as high in vibrancy as well as things that have the need to be lower in vibrancy.
As humans, we can intentionally change our energy to be higher or lower in frequency. Just as a disclaimer, however, because there are people who are outside of this community in the New Age world who use vibrations to be a judgment involving morals and policing others to oblige to the world and how they see it. This is not whether or not something is moralistically superior or how far people are indoctrinated into their way of thinking. That’s not where we’re going here.
The term “vibration” is only being used as a measure of energy and not how superior something is or worthy of being brought to the Gods.
However, it is more often the case that using energy to describe things is because all things are made with energy and therefore all beings are also associated with using energy including the Gods. Similar to how when you walk into a room and suddenly have a feeling that is associated with it, you’ll find that the Gods also have feelings associated with Them which has no basis in morals or standards or stereotypes.
Now that that’s out of the way, in this post, I am using vibration as a way to illustrate how we go about connecting to the Gods and what we use to connect with Them in order to have the best way of manifesting Them within our homes and spaces.
Before, I talked about how we can create objects on the shrine that gain a sort of energetic signature over time and can be useful in determining how the Divine can anchor themselves to an object. I didn’t get into the technicalities of what that looks like but rather spoke about why it’s important for Them to latch onto specific objects.
I also previously mentioned that the Gods are bigger entities which makes Their frequency a lot stronger and more in tune with what is “above us” on the scale of energy. Effective interactions with the Gods involve bringing our energy up in a way that is conducive to meeting them halfway. Consider it like two things moving towards the other and meeting in the middle and in the middle is where the Gods manifest to humans in a variety of ways.
Invocations and other words of meaning can gain the Gods’ attention when wishing for Them to reach down towards us. If you already have a working relationship with Them, that is not always necessary but it is more so common courtesy to act as though you don’t know Them until They tell you it is unnecessary. At that point, They typically already have an anchor to you built up in such a way that it’s not needed but until then, it is recommended that you follow that. This anchor tends to take years of work and time spent bringing the Gods to you in a natural way without needing any sort of object or shrine to keep with you until then and it can also never happen depending on what your relationship is to the Deity in question.
It is recommended that invocations are meaningful. If you are using them in ritual, poetry and other forms of artistic expression geared towards the God are much more powerful than using outdated forms of poetry that tend to not be relevant to humans in this time period. Music and song are the most common forms of invocation that They might like. Even modern music that has a sort of conceptual appeal to the Deity in question would even work. If you find that you have little emotional appeal to whatever you’re using and you’re using it just because it’s historical and “that’s what you do” you should reconsider it.
The invocation works as a way to both bring the Gods attention to humans while also bringing the vibrations of the humans to the Gods. To have an unmistakable presence in ritual or on a shrine, you have to meet in the middle between the two vibrations which means it’s a two way ordeal. One must consider both sides if they are going to make something that is effective and useful for both sides and not one way or the other.
For example, using something you think was important to the Gods centuries and millennia before we existed but it is not meaningful for us now, it is pointless to try to use it to appeal to Them. On the other hand, using something that is only important to humans like using pop culture or other forms of artistic expression that would only be meaningful to the human, that would also not go over well. Divination is a good way of judging whether or not something is of importance to both sides before applying it to ritual and more commonly, using your own written song or poetry is easier than using something someone else used because it is important for both sides.
What works?
The act of creating objects, poems, and songs in the usage of working with the Gods is one of the most important ways for the Gods to manifest. Because of it being a devotional act, it is intentionally created to be used in service to the Gods, and therefore both sides of the equation are getting what they need from it to be used to their benefit. Corresponding different herbs, decorations, colors, art, analogies, and etc. are also useful when creating these objects but it is not useful if it has no meaning for the human to try.
An example of it not being useful would be digging through academic articles and associating the Deity in question with something that is not around anymore and using some modern equivalence instead would be pulling too hard in one direction and forcing it into compliance with the ritual. The act of performing a ritual that we only slightly understand to have the context of bringing the Gods to humans that was performed long ago tends to not have the same effectiveness in truly making the Gods aware of what we are doing because it is not meaningful in the context of this modern world any longer.
It isn’t because we shouldn’t consider where the Gods came from and how They were worshiped, but doing rote design of a ritual that no longer has shared meaning where the Gods are concerned as well as humans and performing it as an act of devotion is only ritual performance. It ceases to be a way to honor the Gods at this time because it has no weight to the people involved nor do the Gods find it useful in this modern context.
Manifestations of the Gods can look and feel in a variety of ways.
Most common ways are the usage of a shrine in the beginning of a relationship with a Deity and then throughout the entire practice. The presence created is used by having a sort of conductor of energy which would be the candle that is lit upon standing there and the item in which the God is “formed” which would be the image, icon, or statue on the shrine. In short, the candle brings the Deity in, and the iconography is what keeps Them there. That is when offerings, communication, and other workings with the Divine can take place given the Deity in question is amenable to that.
More advanced ways are specific for channeling a Deity, trance mediumship, and possession. In these cases, the Deity is brought into the human through usage of raising the energy. Some Deities need more energy to manifest than others and it also depends on the relationship that the Deity in question has with the human medium.
There are times where you already function in a way that is conducive to a Deity’s energy, you are more likely to be capable of easily channeling that Deity as well as holding Them as an anchor of sorts while They manifest through you. If you are not familiar with that Deity, it is not recommended you try channeling Them because it can be harmful for your nervous system that isn’t already geared towards having Them in your body. This isn’t to scare those mediums who channel for a variety of Gods but having a sort of grounding tool specific to each Deity that is channeled that has been charged specifically for that Deity is much better for the human involved and can also act as an anchor to the Deity.
There are also specific relationships humans have with the Deity in question in which they carry a piece of the Divine within themselves. Everyone has this piece and has the capability of holding it and almost everyone needs to have a way of clearing off the gunk around it in order to best make use of that piece. Shadow work among others practices that are used to clear off certain walls we hold against the Divine in our day to day practice and bring the Divine closer at hand. Most often, the common misconception that withholds this sort of innate power is that humans are unworthy for the Divine or believe that the Deity does not want to speak to them. This is the most common and most easily resolved issue around finding this piece simply because we live in a society that tells us we cannot be close to the Divine without being special.
Consider that the amount of energy a Deity puts forth to a human can be bigger and smaller in size depending on how much the human can take. Retaining this kind of thing is as much like a muscle as it is any other kind of skill and usefulness. I will go more into detail when I inevitably make a post about channeling and possessory work. What is most important now is to understand the variables between how much goes into the understanding that not all people are going to have such an obvious time telling the difference between when a Deity is around or not.
Why Does it Matter?
The purpose of building this sort of framework is to essentially guide you into figuring out how to be able to sense the presence of the Divine. As of right now, there is no little context for building a shrine much less raising the vibrations around it in order to bring the Deity closer to the human. The closer the Deity is to the human, the more obvious the energy will be. It is important not to get down on yourself for not knowing why you aren’t feeling anything.
There is no linear progression between how much you do versus how much the Deity gets involved. The variables are numerous and it takes time – years, even – to get this sort of thing down before you are capable of having a better understanding and association with the energy and presence of the God. Some people are more natural at picking up the presence while others need amplifiers and practices to remove blockages.
Sometimes it takes more work than just doing a specific practice to pick up on the presence of a God and oftentimes it’s more of an emotional blockage or something to do with how your brain functions than anything. There are ways of working through these issues and I will talk more about them in my neurodivergent series coming up. The long and short of it is that some people have a tougher time with the abstract nature of metaphysics versus having it down because of the ritual rather than it being felt.
Additionally, it is important to have these sorts of things considered when working with the Gods if it is within your realm of interest of being able to discern Them from everything else. A lot of people feel like they know what they’re doing and often can mean talking to something that isn’t there or mistaking the feeling of wanting to talk to a God for being the God themselves. It is important to note that not all people feel the same way when picking up on the presence of a Deity but often, it is unmistakable given the vastness of Their energy and being.
